You already know
Most of you reading this already know to find us at Sport Hill on Sundays and at New Haven Ecstatic Dance on some Mondays. You may know to check our events page when you want to see us in person.
You may already know that we deliver, for free, locally; and that you used to need a free shipping code at the site. (We fixed that, by the way. Now it’s automatic at checkout as long as you’re in the right zip code.)
The next newsletter will talk about all things tincture but you can already check out the tincture page for more info about them. The entire site was updated with more information, more things to order, and helpful posts for those of you interested in growing mushrooms with our supplies.
What you may not have noticed yet…
We’re super excited that we’ll be vending at the Strawberry Festival for the first time! We’ve loved attending the last few years and wondered if Monroevians might want our mushrooms at this event. We’ll see you there!
We live in Monroe but are growing deep roots in Newtown as well. We’re excited to make new friends in June at the Newtown Farmer’s Market. Starting the 18th of June, and every Tuesday until October, you can find us there. If you ever wonder if we’ll be anywhere there’s a living Google calendar at our events page. It is updated in real-time so you know where to find us.
We’ve been talking about doing a Foraging class forever...
The long-anticipated Foraging class!
We’ve finally nailed down two locations and a time! *does a jig.* You can come to learn about foraging mushrooms at our indoor Foraging class on the 22nd of June at the Cyrenius Booth Library in Newtown. See more info at the Event page.
This is part I of a two-part series. Part I is an in-depth indoor introduction to mushroom foraging. We do this separately from a Mushroom foray, and indoors so that you can be comfortable while James digs into the details of foraging.
This is currently the only confirmed class time that is free to the public. There’s a list for folks who want foraging info. If you haven’t joined that list yet and you’re interested in foraging, now would be a good time.
A Monroe foraging class date and time are coming, as is a foraging meet-up opportunity. All of that will be announced on that list.
Random mushie stuff
Some Fodmap facts.
For those with sensitive stomachs and those on a low FODMAP diet, oyster mushrooms, including king oysters, are the variety with the lowest FODMAPS. If you ever need to check for yourself you can use Monash University’s FODMAP app to be sure. Tinctures are usually taken in small enough doses to pass Monash’s test for low FODMAP foods. (The more you know!)
Customer Mushroom Grows!
Check out these pictures of our customer’s mushroom-growing project using our blocks. Y’all are crushing it!
If you’re curious about growing your own mushrooms, buy our mushroom growing blocks here. If you’re curious about what they are like, check out our fresh mushrooms in person or check out our pictures (like those golden oysters above). We use the same blocks that we sell to you. We will share (even more) advice about how to use them at our site.
Your turn for the update!
What have you foraged lately? What tasty things have you done with your mushrooms? What mushrooms are you growing!? What are your tinctures doing for you? Respond with a photo! (Or a recipe!)
See you at Sport Hill Farm in Easton on Sunday! At the Strawberry Festival! Or at the Newtown Farmer’s Market!
